It’s been so easy falling into a groove here in Boquete (Spanish classes three days a week, lunch with friends, coffee shop meet-ups, Tuesday market, Thursday hike & sometimes Saturdays, Friday “newcomers” dinner, Saturday hang out with friends etc.), that I have procrastinated on looking into exploring other parts of Panama the exception being the whale watching and picnic on Isla Gamez trip. With only one month left I need to get on the ball if I’m to explore any other areas.
This has been such a glorious experience just enjoying the mountains, climate, and tranquility of this area, also the company and graciousness of such wonderful people. I’m tempted to just continue doing what I’m doing and plan a separate trip next year to visit a different part of Panama.
I have chosen not to watch television while I’m here and I don’t miss it one bit. It has been such a liberating feeling not to be bombarded by all the television commercials trying to get you to buy things you don’t need. Also not being constantly plummeted with breaking news stories. I’m not living in a bubble so I do know about some of the things going on around the world but it’s not constantly in my face. Not to seem callous but someone asked me “Don’t you want to know what’s going in the world?” Instead of answering the question I asked a question of my own. “What do you do about what you know is going on the world?” I received a blank stare.
Look at the intricate root system of this tree. This tree is beautiful and thriving where it is planted.
For those who have chosen to stay in one place or those who may not have a choice in where you are right now. Instead of complaining, looking at the negatives in your situation, or envying others; do like this tree and thrive where you are planted.
Look for the positives and build on them or create your own opportunities. Creep out from underneath the darkness and search for the light.
