Easing into it

I’ve been on leave now for one week and it feels good to know that when this leave is over I won’t be rushing back to anything. I don’t have to worry about my inbox being overrun with unanswered emails nor problems needing to be solved upon my return. When this leave is over I’ll be retired. After 20 years, 4 months, and 10 days I’ll officially be MSgt Pond, Retired. That has a good ring to it I think.

I haven’t done much upon my return to the United States. I’ve just been taking advantage of the fact that I have no place to be when I wake up in the morning. I’ve been spending time with my sister and her family. I’m living with them now until I figure out what I’m going to do next.

I did make one purchase. I got an iPhone, it was 99 cents. I needed a phone anyway (I lost my phone in Chicago in 2009 on my way to South Korea) since my account was going to be on hold anyway I never replaced it). When I went in to reactivate my account I was eligible for an upgrade. I’m now figuring out how to use the phone with help from my 14-year-old nephew.
